Not Present:

• Bill began the meeting @ 7:03pm
• Intent for June Meeting in Small Groups
• 175 members currently
• Signing up for small groups
  • Email to be sent out asking for people to contact the appropriate person.
• Cindy to take the Saanich Equipment.
• Group leaders:
  • Simon – Saanich/Peninsula
  • Jackie Quinless – Oak Bay/Gordon Head
  • Carolyn/Victoria – Victoria
  • Kazlyn – Esquimalt/View Royal
  • Werner – Western Communities
• Outyards
  • Need to have outyard info in next meetings.
  • Still have same locations as last year.
  • Did have extra tags available last year.
  • Lottery system did work well last year.
  • Quite a few people cancelled last year – perhaps due to Covid, carpooling and first timers.
  • Some misunderstood that you were responsible for taking your hive there yourself.
  • Should be beneficial to have discussion in small groups.
  • Seemed to be some mite bombs. Need to do something to mitigate this. Ensure mite levels are low (2% or less.)
  • Brad to check outyards next weekend.
  • $10 per hive.
  • Simon will renew registration with Ministry for Outyard.
• June 10 week for small group meetings.
• Nicole will highlight members that are actively a part of a small group in the spreadsheet.
• Current plan is for Zoom calls for small group meetings unless health orders change.
  • Something may change so we may want to re-assess.
• Send out a note to sign up for small groups within the week – Bill to coordinate with Werner.
• Rinah to pass magazines to librarian Bob Lucy or share around.
• Sterigenics – how will we pull it off in the future if they won’t do the same day thing anymore? Costs will increase significantly if overnight stay required. Interior group got some costs covered by the government as did up island group (transportation at least.)
• Future Meeting Locations
  • Still need to find one.
  • Schools are expensive
  • Nice to have washrooms, parking, storage, sound system, extra space, separate area for beginners’ corner, etc.
  • Around 80 people average to meetings.
