CAPITAL REGION BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION

EXECUTIVE MEETING – May 15, 2017

1902 HIGH PARK PLACE – 7:00 PM

Attending: Bill Fosdick, Irene Tiampo, Rupert Rode, Barry Denluck, Nairn Hollott, Michille Sims and Tara Beninger

Bill called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm

June Agenda

• Newbie corner – Queen cells, swarm cells – where to locate these cells in the hive.
• Feature Top Bar Hives
• Kenyan Top Bar – Tara will speak to Peter Day
• RainCoast Hive – Barry Denluck
• Warre Hive – Tara Beninger
• Bob Liptrot will speak on Nosema to the members
• What is Blooming for the bees – Nairn Hollott
• What to do in the hive in June – Larry Lindahl
• BeeLine – Website – Werner, Peter Willis and Bill have been working on the new and improved website. Information will be on the website and the Beeline will no longer be issued.

2018 BCHPA

• AGM – to be held in Victoria
• Barry Denluck and Jody Aylard in charge
• Dates tentatively are October 19, 20 and 21st or it could be the next week.
• Preliminary venue is the Union Club.
• In June there will be a presentation to the CRBA members and the committee will tour the Union Club.
• July is to have the members vote on it.

Swarms

• Very few calls, mostly bumblebee calls.

Financial

• Rupert reported that the CRBA has $15,000 in cash
• Club needs another projector
• Club needs a new library cupboard
• A motion to expense capital purchases instead of capitalizing was made by Rupert and seconded by Nairn. Carried

July meeting

• “human library” ask an expert questions.

Day of the Honeybee

• May 29th , 2017. Are brochures available.

Letter to new members

• Alanya Smith and Michelle Sims will provide.
