• Bill began the meeting @ 7:17pm
• June Small Group Meetings
  • Victoria 12 attendees (Zoom)
  • Saanich North/Peninsula – 10 attendees (Zoom)
  • Oak Bay/Gordon Head – 10 attendees (Zoom)
  • Esquimalt – 10 attendees (park)
  • Western Communities – Around 7 attendees (Google Meet)
• July Meeting
  • 50 people may be difficult with 2m spacing.
  • Meet in park with whole group, but separate into small groups.
  • Central Station with cake/ice cream.
  • “Contraption area”.
  •  Social 6:30-7 and then small groups after.
  • Beaver Lake? Can it be booked?
  • Don has a “pop up tent”. Bill also.
  • Cindy to call CRD. 2nd Thursday of July (8th)
  • Bring your own chair.
  • Centennial Park in C. Saanich may be an alternate.
• Outyards
  • Tentative start Jul. 10
  • Not as many people interested this year.
    • 54 spots spoken for so far.
    • Some feedback from small groups that we have enough in town and concern over mites.
  • Need cleanup crew one weekend before July. Could put out word to give new beekeepers a chance to see the site.
  • Nicole to email a reminder of signup to group.
  • If spots remain Nicole will email those that have them to inquire if they want more. Limit to 5 per person for now.
• New Indoor Meeting Location
  • Possible locations
    • Ukrainian hall – parking could be issue.
    • Goward House – lower space 110 people.
      • 50 parking spots
      • Victoria to follow up
  • Key characteristic – is there a place for new beekeepers group?
  • Annual cost for previous location was $2100. Was going to go up to $2400.
  • Bill to follow up with potential of Glen Lyon
  • Victoria – St. Joseph the Worker (school) – $75/hr + $60 for cleaning fee.
  • Probably can consider a different night.
  • Simon to follow up with Mason hall in Central Saanich.
  • Les Passmore Center – central location.
  • Simon to follow up on parking, space, lighting, etc.
  • Could keep a summer meeting outside.
  • Bill to follow up on Braefoot.
  • Davinci Center?
    • Carolyn to contact.
  • Cindy to check into Christ Community Church off Helmcken.
    • Saanich Baptist Church just down the road from there.
• Saanich Fair
  • Had a call. 75/25% a go for a reduced version.
  • If so, we’ll have our typical display with reduced hours and limited time allowed on site.
  • No significant change for us other than no honey sampling.
  • Victoria is our contact person. Irene will help.
  • Should have a better idea in about 2 weeks.
  • A lot of our material is at the fairground already.
  • Honey sticks?
• Kazlyn wondering about an introduction to Outyard evening (2hr). Bill Haddon and Don potentially.
  • Could have that as one of the breakout sessions at July meeting.
  • Likely too close to opening time, so an earlier get together will be proposed.
  • Next Executive meeting can be in person 🙂
