Executive Meeting – June 19, 2017

Attending: Bill Fosdick, Irene Tiampo, Nairn Hollott, Rupert Rode, Barry Denluck, Alanna Morbin and Tara Beringer

Bill called the meeting to order at 7:20 PM

July Meeting Agenda

Living Library; concept: stations set up with one or two resident experts at each station. Options include:

  1. Best treatment of mites during the year and what to use
  2. “Beeing” a good neighbour – Municipal by-laws, insurance
  3. Fairs – Getting ready for the fair season
  4. Website – Ideas for the website
  5. What members would like to see done in the club
  6. What kids want to know about bees
  7. Best bee books to have
  8. Recognizing common diseases in the hive
  9. Outyard – what the beekeepers should do prior to sending hives to the outyard

DOLIDirectors and Officers Liability Insurance – Rupert explained to the executive that we need to renew our DOLI. A motion to renew DOLI with Volunteer Canada in the amount of $281.00 was made by Barry Denluck and seconded by Rupert Rode. Carried

Rupert said that the General Liability Insurance is in place and will need to be renewed later in the year.

The club needs to reissue 2 cheques for the Rwanda Project that have never been cashed.

Membership to the club is down approximately 25%.

AGM – BCHPA – 2018

Barry spoke to the executive and distributed a business plan showing the number of participants, room rates and price of meals.

A motion that the Capital Region Beekeepers Association to host the BCHPA AGM in October, 2018 subject to Bill Fosdick’s inspection of the facility was moved by Barry Denluck and seconded by Bill Fosdick. Carried

Club Hives

Farm is located off Mt Newton X Road and the Pat Bay Highway.

  1. It could sustain no more than 10 hives.
  2. Who will oversee the hives. Would need at least 2 to 3 volunteers
  3. Educational

Policy statement – Financial statements of the club should be reviewed by a knowledgeable person. Bill will ask Sharon Bolton to look at this.
