Executive Meeting (July 2023)

Meeting start 7:06pm

• Dorothee has shared that she will be stepping down from the Treasurer role
• Bill C will add this to the August BeeLine
• Dorothee confirmed that the CRBA account has now been set up for etransfers.
• Zoom – Amanda Johnson has volunteered to help with taking on the Zoom work but cannot start until September. Hoping to have 2-3 volunteers to take turns running the Zoom/camera at
  the monthly meeting.
• August event – Don will lead the meeting that evening with am extraction discussion/demonstration. Will include a short reminder about mites & what we should be doing, Bill C will also add to the August BeeLine.
• September meeting – Portland Urban Bee Keepers, representative Brian F would like to attend our monthly meeting and speak about the Portland club & their activities.
  • New Bee Keeper Corner – mites and winterizing
  • Intermediate – Bill F to lead the discussion
• Outyards update – 76 spots were reserved & paid, tried to ensure the participants were spread throughout the 3 outyards. Cathy &a Cindy volunteered to store the 6 boxes (3 each) from the outyards over the winter, containing the fire extinguishers, solar panels, etc. No issues/concerns have been raised from anyone using the outyards so far this year.
• Swarm information doc – Bill C would like to create a document with the swarm policy/procedures, etc and have it available on our website to all members. Still in progress.
• Bee vacuum – should we purchase a bee vacuum for the club? Finding a central location will be challenging for everyone to access when its needed on short notice, unsure how often it will be needed. For now, the club will hold off purchasing one.
• List of New Beekeepers meeting topics – Don has recovered his list of topics used for the New Bee Keepers meetings.
