Minutes

Present: Bill F, Carolyn H, Don L, Kaslyn, Kimberly B & Nairn H

August meeting topic will be preparing for the fall fairs with subjects such as how to wrap a frame, prepare jars etc. and a discussion of brood break. There will be sign up sheets for the Sooke Fall Fair and the Saanich Fair (more volunteers needed).

September meeting topic will be bee products – propolis, candles, lip balm, furniture polish. New beekeeper topics will be feeding and further winter preparation.

Saanich Fall Fair – Don will make a sandwich board, so the bee exhibit is better advertised. Important this year as the theme is bees.

Outyards. Trimmers were rented and used to clear brush. The key lock box was purchased and installed. The owners of any hives without tags will be asked to remove them. With more club members and greater interest in the outyards, there will be need to be clearer rules next year about outyard usage.

Design contest. There have been no entries. It will be discussed again at the August meeting.
