Not Present:

• Bill began the meeting @ 7:05pm
• Agenda for March Meeting
  • Bylaw Amendments – Motion to Accept the amendments as presented in the February Beeline and summarized here.
  • Quorum will be 19 members in attendance at meeting.
  • Will have to create Zoom polls for each motion.
  • Motion for acceptance of 2020 financial statements.
  • Motion for approval of 2021 budget.
  • Motions and approval of Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Secretary positions.
  • Motion to approve minutes from previous year

  • In previous years there was also a motion to accept the agenda for the meeting.
  • Also in previous years, there was an annual report and a motion to approve that.
• Kazlyn reviewed the financial statements for last year and budget for this year.
  • Discussion regarding the amount the club subsidizes the Iotron this year.
  • Decision to include up to $1000 of Iotron related expenses in proposed 2021 budget due to desire to support bee health.
• Treasurer position
  • Rinah K, will put her name forward for the nomination.
  • Victoria and Cindy wish to be directors at large.
• Balance of Meeting
  • BCHPA presentation on hive inspection
  • Q & A
• Password protected area on website for mentor volunteers.
  • People did respond to survey indicating they would like to be mentors.
  • Need a disclaimer on the website indicating that the mentors are just a resource and the amount of assistance is up to the mentor to decide.
  • Mentors may be overwhelmed.
• New beekeeper corner at the end of the meeting.
  • No particular time limit.
  • Possible topics…
    • Spring hive inspections.
    • Package installation 10 min video.
    • Sourcing bees.
    • Checking your bees.
    • How to use a smoker.
• Facebook group is sometimes used for Newbee questions, but suggestion is generally to take a course.
• Value in a forum on the website for members only?
