Minutes
Attending: Bill Fosdick, Rupert Rode, Irene Tiampo and Barry Denluck. Bill F called the meeting to order at 7:20 PM.
- Bill F suggested that we try a new format to have the guest speaker lead off the meeting and then have the business portion of the meeting before adjourning for the social and refreshments. This would give our speaker an opportunity to leave and to able to catch their transportation back with to the mainland or to one of the Islands.
- To have a standing item on the agenda to “What to do about mites this month”, this would be similar to Larry’s discussing what to do in the hive this month.
- Involving the new members to step up and volunteer.
- Rupert R reported that he had not received any money for the rental of the club’s honey extractor. Bill will contact Jim Henry about this.
- Theme for the 2018 meetings: “Bee Health.” Topics discussed would have to do with keeping the hive healthy through the seasons.
- Rupert R, treasurer, informed the executive that the MacKenzie Funds have been deposited into the VanCity Bank account. He suggested that we stagger the investment certificates as follows: $5,000 for 1 year, $5,000 for 2 years and $5,000 for 3 years in VanCity Certificates. Congratulations Rupert on this endeavour, it has only taken approximately 3 to 4 years.
