The Capital Regional Beekeepers Association (CRBA) meets on the second Thursday of every month. This particular meeting is the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Bill Fosdick greeted the members and introduced the evening’s speaker, David MacDonald – South
Island Bee Inspector.
David MacDonald’s topic for the evening was Integrated Pest Management. David gave a very informative presentation on how to keep the Varroa Mite under control (you will never eradicate the pest). The buzz words are Monitor, Monitor, Monitor.
Annual General Meeting was called to order at 8:00 PM.
A motion to accept the minutes of the 2018 AGM was made by Bill Braefoot, seconded by Jim Henry. Motion carried.
Rupert Rode presented the financial position of the CRBA. A motion to accept the financial statement as presented was made by Irene Tiampo, seconded by John Claude Watt. Motion carried.
A motion to accept the proposed budget was made by Kim Bowman, seconded by Eric Davies. Motion carried.
Election of Officers:
Nominations for President
There were no nominations brought forward. Bill Fosdick agreed to continue on as president for another year. Members whole-heartedly agreed.
Nominations for Treasurer
Kazlyn Bonnor agreed to be Treasurer and members agreed.

The General Meeting was then convened.
Barry Denluck informed the members that if did not attend the BCHPA AGM in Victoria, there are video’s of the presentations of the speaker are now on the BCHPA’s web-site for the public to view.
Saanich Fair – Irene Tiampo, convenor for the Honey section of the Fair asked the members for help as
“Bees and Honey” is the theme of this year’s Fair.
Education – There will be an intermediate beekeeping course offed at Royal Rhodes with Bob Liptrot as
the instructor. All Barry Denluck’s classes are full. Urban Bees may have courses.
Nucs for Sale – Stan Reist, Urban Bees and Buckerfields.
Swarm Committee – Michelle – they need volunteers to retrieve swarms and bumblebee nests.
Iotron – Alanna Morbin has forms for members to fill out if they wish to send equipment to the Iotron. The information is on the CRBA’s web-site. The dates are April 3 for loading the truck and April 4th for travelling and returning from the Iotron.
